« on: July 18, 2014, 06:21:04 PM »
John (Omar) and I (Irony) hold court at the Hilton bar on Thursday night before Con--we're usually situated by 9pm at the latest. We hope to see many of you there, as we miss all of you terribly.

Board (Bored) Games / SPAM Poetry

Poetry spam!

Killer-dyed sales letters, Michael's teachings
are exactly as what you need. You, silent,
an impatient, instinctive feed. Moreover,
you can just as soon. Follow the steps, pretty.
Above you, strong will, quiet desire, but then
one can never know. Drinking on the behalf
of old age, a fiery speech and brilliant disease.
And there you are, lighting fires to determine
how far until they catch, deliver us all. makes more sense than the spam, anyway. :)

General Discussion / Thank you for this year!

I want to give the peeps at Dark ConFrontation a huge thanks for a great game. We have no idea how hard you work for us... but I want you to know that we know we have no idea how hard you're working. You have a fantastically difficult job, and you do it really, really well.

I heard yesterday that Benji was pretty much responsible for Irony's rewrite. I owe him big thanks in particular for refreshing the character for me. I loved getting to give people information again (instead of trying to control it)--whether they wanted it or not. This resulted in some hilariously awkward moments:
"I AM BEING RUDE." [Player agrees.] "DO YOU DESERVE IT?" [Player takes a loooong pause to consider this.]
"THAT MAN WALKING DOWN THE HALL IS RICH!" [Player startles, nearly runs into the wall.]

Can we get an official spelling on "Superleicht" please? I thought I heard that it was Germanic, and my literary training won't allow me to continuously misspell it. It's making me crazy--I don't care if everyone else continues spelling it differently, but I need to know!

Room Party (Off-Topic Discussion) / Books. Bring 'em on.

I've always been interested in what you guys read, so here's my own selfish topic. I'd love to know what three books you'd recommend that everyone should read. And no, not all three should be various Harry Potter books, as awesome as they are (which I mean seriously--they are spectacular). I don't care how literary they are; just pick stuff you like. :)

Mine are as follows:
1. Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett
DEATH deals with his own mortality. I teach it every semester in my freshman composition class.
2. Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett
A play in which nothing happens twice. Possibly the greatest piece of literature ever written.
3. The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter
A very violent, very adult collection of short stories. She rewrites fairy tales in horrifying and amazing ways.
