Room Party (Off-Topic Discussion) / Pandora Celtica
« on: July 31, 2013, 12:41:41 PM »
Pandora Celtica will unfortunately not be at Dragon*Con this year.  They were not invited back.  Apparently some poeple have been very vocal about the "same old bands" playing at Dragon*Con every year and so PC was not invited back this year.  However if we ask nicely saying that we want PC back next year, maybe they return in 2014.

A contact form is located here:
Contact DC

Please ask nicely as anything else may result in PC getting banned.

Room Party (Off-Topic Discussion) / Running with the bulls
« on: May 09, 2013, 08:30:14 AM »
In case you ever wanted to go running with the bulls but can't make it out to Spain.

The Great Bull Run is coming to the Georgia International Horse Park near Atlanta on October 19th.

I've already bought my tickets and hope to see some of yall there.  ;D

Since this is not exactly off topic as it is about earning in-game achievements I'm posting it here.  This tread will simply be a list of the known achievements and how each is earn. So for those you who like to earn as many as possible (mostly me but their may be a few others), hopefully this will aid in that.

Achievement list:
A Special Kind of Sand - Put another character to sleep.  Presumably only attainable in the sandman scenario but I am curious if one could earn it by simply talking to someone long enough that they literally fall sleep on you.

Achieveteer - Turn in achievement data (analog or digital)

Bloody Gardener - Participate in the "Orange Cutting" event during Pulp Apocalypse!

Brains??? - Come back as a Zombie during a DarkCon game

Cat Napper - Put to sleep or had a dream during What Dreams May Come...

Cross the T - Fill out the post game survey after convention

DarkCon Devotee - Volunteer to staff the DarkCon fan table

Dot the I - Fill out the pre-registration survey before getting to the convention

Expired - Your character was killed during a DarkCon game

Made a name for Myself - Obtained a DarkCon title during a DarkCon game

Meat Wagon - Replaced another character's body part during a DarkCon game

Only make Lefts - Participate in the "maze" event during Pulp Apocalypse!

Orange you Glad? - Came back as an Orangeman

Pan Fan - Visit the Pandora Celtica table during Pulp Apocalypse!

Pen Pal - Use the DarkCon mail system

Polymorph: Self - Play as multiple creatures during a DarkCon game

Pulp Fictional - Play in Pulp Apocalypse!

Recruited - Join a DarkCon based group during a DarkCon game

Sandman Survivor - Help save the Sandman

Somnabulist - Come back as a somnambulist.  The badge is misspelled...

Starting off on the right foot - Paid for the game before getting to the table.  I wonder if there is an achievement for not paying before getting to the table

TechnoWiz - Entered information in the online achievement tracker

Room Party (Off-Topic Discussion) / DragonCon T-shirts

From the main site:

"Due to popular demand, we have reprinted our most popular 2011 & 2010 Dragon*Con t-shirts and they are now available for purchase in the store."

They have the cute baby dragon shirts.

The Table (Rules Discussion) / Missing rules and other clarifications
« on: September 07, 2011, 08:15:55 AM »
The only rule that I found was missing was how many people could you call a confrontation on (the answer is one).  It is not listed in the main rule book but is listed on the quick start guide which is for reference only.

There are many clarifications needed.

First:  If a confrontation starts in a free fire zone, like Malice's, and then someone leaves the area are they still in free fire?  On a similar note, if a confrontation starts out of a free fire zone and someone flees into a free fire zone, do they gain free fire?

Second: When is the cost of spells/psionics paid?  Is it during the effects phase?  If so how does that interact with free fire when the caster is in free fire and the target is not (ie, Holly removes someone from free fire and a mage casts a spell)?

Third:  What counts as high tech?  I know it is covered in the FAQ but the FAQ states that high tech is anything not normally found in Radio Shack but the wizard creature card states that high tech is anything at the level of a home computer or higher.

Fourth: If someone is using a key to open a display case of a merchant, can the merchant just pick up is stuff and leave?  I know that if free fire is off that a merchant can call on confrontation, but what if free fire is working?

Fifth:  If someone has a card that says "I am six inches tall and adorable", how big is that person's dead body? if it is six inches tall, can I hide the dead body in my back pocket?  Would the dead body be a concealable item (after all a handgun can be larger than six inches are they are concealable?

Sixth:  When does game wide free fire begin/end?  There was two differing answer listed.

Seventh:  Why is the universe dissolving not a form of attack?  (I am kidding with this last one...mostly.)

Dragon*Con 2011 General Discussion / Bunny Hunter
« on: September 05, 2011, 06:11:42 PM »
I have an interesting idea for the Bunny Hunter thing.  If we can make a sign that shows Gruesome pointing at the viewer and says "I want you to play Darckcon", then we can have someone walking around the con with this sign trying to recruit people into the game.  They cab even carry around those mini maps that Josh had at the fan table to hand out to those interested.

I also think that whoever does this should be a player since the staff and refs are too busy as it is.  It could even be a task the merchants could pay the characters to do to help stimulate the economy.

To give credit where due, Laura had the idea for Gruesome to say "I want you to read your cards" and Jeri and Donald were talking with me about this on the way home.

The Table (Rules Discussion) / Prime
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:35:45 AM »
I say that being Prime is a disadvantage because the person who is Prime has to declare his/her action first.  Other attackers in the confrontation could change their targets based on who (whom?) is attacking who (whom?).  Also since all effects occur simultaneously, I see no advantage to being Prime in a confrontation.  Is there something I'm missing?

Dragon*Con 2011 General Discussion / Dilemma
« on: July 19, 2011, 10:24:37 AM »
Friday night, 7 pm at Dragon Con.  Do I watch live Wrestling (which I have never done) or do I play DarkCon for the start of the story?   Tough choices...
