I've got a room reserved at the Hilton from Thursday to Monday night and am looking for at least three other people to share it with and split the cost.  It's a non-smoking room with double beds.  My only stipulation is since I made the reservation I always get a bed.  Split 4 ways the room would be about $65 per night per person.  I'd like to be paid in cash on the day of check in so that I could use it as spending money at the Con.

Anyone who's interested please drop me a message.

Archives / "Alan Grey"
« on: September 06, 2008, 09:56:40 AM »
So this year I was Commander Alnar of the Grey Nation Exploration and Survey Fleet, aka "Alan Grey."  One of the more conventional characters I've played for Dark Confrontation.  I had been a bit of a screwup in the past (Don't ask about the "Pluto Incident") and was looking for spectacular results on this mission to impress my superiors.  My primary mission was to investigate why a quiet, primitive, backwater planet like Earth (no offense) warranted the stationing of a League of Systems Judge while enlightened and advanced Zeta Reticuli had to jump through hoops and fight an interstellar war against the damnable Pleidians to earn full membership status.  Was also to make unofficial initial diplomatic overtures to organizations of interest like the Creature Convention, the Men in Black, and the Organization of Domineering Dolphins, who unfortunately for me all decided to go to Florida this year.  My tertiary mission was to collect biological samples in the form of expired living tissue and have them beamed up whenever I made a report.  And my own personal goal was to get the autograph of Stone Mountain, 13 time winner of the Intergalactic Wrestling Championship.

All in all, despite setbacks like becoming infected for a while (and facing the possibility of quarantined exile on Earth as long as I was), crazed humans trying to shoot me, and gaining the ire of a malevolent entity of godlike power, things went rather well in the end for me.  The clues I dug up and reported in the course of my investigation led to the exposure of The Judge's renegade status.  While I didn't meet the specific groups I was looking for I did make first contact with the represenative of unknown alien race made of pure mental energy (Hi Voidstar!) and interesting Earth-based organizations who occupied the same niche as the groups I wanted to meet.  After failing to abduct Zombie Meltdown (zombies unfortunately didn't count as expired tissue for transmat purposes) I got the corpse of Dr. Openheimer (sans arms and legs) to beam up as a sample.  And finally, early on not only did I manage to get Stone Mountain's autograph but a picture with him as well!

All of that, along with greatly expanding my collection of high tech weapons and power sources (I think in the end I managed to get every high tech weapon in the game except the Heavy Grazer and I was working on that), meant that things worked out for the best for the guy with the "great Asgard costume."  Who knows, if he plays his cards right he might be able to wrangle a promotion and perhaps a transfer to one of the more happening and advanced worlds.
