You’ve been waiting for official announcements about the ’09 Dark Con game, hoping to hear about all manner of awesomeness we have planned. This is not that post.
This announcement is brought to you, by your new and improved Forum Moderators, to showcase a ton of cleanup, a new feature, and a nifty contest!
Forums evolve. All of you, our wonderful forum denizens, take the space we’ve provided and do with it marvelous (and occasionally horrifying) things. As we hoped, the boards we created took on a life of their own. Now looking back on the past year’s worth of posts, we have decided that slight adjustments need to be made to streamline the forum and make it a bit more user friendly.
Step one is clearing out any dead topics. Moving forward, threads dormant for over 3 months will now be moved to the archive board. As you can imagine, this will affect a significant chunk of threads. So if there is anything you’d like to see stick around let us know by submitting it to us via the
Please, Please Make It Sticky thread.
We’ll also be opening the new ’09 area. Last Dragon*Con was a heck of a ride, and it’s fun to reminisce. But the time has come to talk of other things. Thus, all of the ’08 game specific boards will also be moved to the archive.
One of our other goals is to make gleaning information about game play and rules easier for new forum users. (We want to have the place ready for all those great friends of yours who you’ll be showing around the place before they come play at this year’s Dragon*Con.) In
The Table, we will be pulling from the questions you, our loyal fan base, have been compiling for the past year and posting them to a new Topic called FAQ-U (Frequently Asked Questions University
). We will, of course, also still be answering any questions that might occur to you, between now and the next time you have to use your hellfork.
Last, but not least, we’re having a little contest. You see, best beloveds, your delightful affection for paronomasia has not eluded our notice. In fact some of you have become regular parnomasiacs. Now we’re always game for a good pun. (In fact, we like to think we’re
the game for them.) But conversely there are those who’d like to converse with their fellow DarkConventioneers, without their conversations being converted into punishment. So, henceforth, when a thread becomes cluttered with errant vines of verbal virtuosity, someone will come along and tidy those stray shoots into another area. Where will they go? They’ll go into a pun playground -- a land of linguists, laughter, and lots of groaning. I hope the idea’s grown on you already.
Terrific, you say? But, wait! There’s a catch. The playground is thus far nameless. Submit your suggestions for its hilarious header in the Pun Preservation thread. And may the best (or worst) punster win.
The first of changes should be rolling out shortly. But as you can imagine some of this will take just a bit longer. Nevertheless, we hope to have the Forum in its new sleek, stylish form up in running by the end of the week. So here’s to an exciting new year and a fresh face to the forum!
